FRONT ... BACK ...

It's all looking better. Don't you think??? Click here to see before.

After, much deliberation, we finally cut down the GIANT holly bushes AND did a little landscaping! Next, privacy fence. New posts will come later!

The back porch is still not completely done but we DO have the swing hung! YES!!!

CONSTRUCTION ZONE and MORE FIRSTS ...

I guess when you have a one-year-old just about everything is a first ... at least what you want to blog about anyway!
BUT, before we get to the firsts, I must show you the progress Ryan and Pop made this past weekend! The back porch is our last BIG project. And oh how we are ready to be done!! There are a few more things to be done (front posts and landscaping), but they aren't BIG. I'm amazed at my husband's work! He's amazing! Here you go ... here's the work.

the porch after they were done ... it has a coat of paint on it now.
Click here to see the progress before this.
AMAZING!!! Thanks, POP! B & B Construction is ready to begin!

Then they cut down a few trees, limbs, etc.

And Truett was amazed!

--------

NOW ... more firsts!

NUMBER FIVE ... playin' in the mud.
I'm a little disappointed in myself for not just letting him stick his face in the mud.

then we had to get a bath ... of course NOT A FIRST!

NUMBER SIX ... PB & J
loves it and not allergic ... YEA!! (Sorry, cousin Jake.)

NUMBER SEVEN ... meeting the Easter Bunny
not so sure about him as you can see!

NUMBER EIGHT ... WALKING!!!
Mr. Truett just decided today that he would be a walkin' man ... walking more often than not.

A Before and After

I realized I haven't done any updates or afters on the inside of the house in a while. So, here is Truett's room! See the BEFORE here. Of course, the child's room always comes first, right? Honestly his closet hasn't been painted yet but you can't see that!

Hope you like!!

It's Getting BETTER!!

No, we didn't cut down the big tree!! Are you kidding?

WE DID IT!!

It's official! Every wall in this house is painted! NO MORE DISGUSTING BROWN PANELING!!
Mom and dad kept Truett for the weekend (we sure did miss him) so we could get a full day's work done and party with some teenagers! Here is the before and after (well, still have to finish painting the cabinet doors, hang the clothes rod on the bottom shelf, paint the exterior door and install a new floor BUT 3 coats of paint in one day ... NOT BAD!!) Thank you, Jesus! It feels so CLEAN!!! I know it doesn't look it!

Please don't judge me for the mess that it still is! After it's all said and done, IT WILL BE ORGANIZED!!! We're getting there! Crystal Jolley at Blossoms and Vintage is probably thinking her laundry room wasn't that bad! And she's having a handy little giveaway too!

New things at the Berry House

I know you guys have been DYING ... I mean on the edge of your seat dying ... to see all the updates we've done to our house all finished and beautiful! I promise i haven't been holding out on you. We've been holding out on the house! Since I started working with the students at the church and taking a class last semester online, the blog AND the projects slowed down just a little bit! BUT we had a very productive weekend doing little finishing touches but we wanted to show off just a couple of our NEW things around the house!

This is the most exciting of all! We finally got rid of the solid wood door and let a little light in the den. What a beautiful door and just the beginning of transforming the outside of the house!

New ... teenage guys helping? HA!! No! But they did help me pull off a great surprise for Ryan ... not having to pick the bed up and put it together after a long week!

Ryan and I have been looking for a bed since we got married. The slow to find the right thing people we are, we've (or maybe I) FINALLY found the perfect bed and the perfect deal!! LOVE IT!!!

And last but not least, someone is doing A LOT of new things! Truett has overnight become quite the little man! No more baby food for him unless mom is too lazy to fix something! Seriously, I've realized how little I have cooked in the past 10 months but we're loving it! He thinks he's so big — really wanting to walk, but loving to crawl. He's such a joy and the highlight of our days!
It's hard to believe he'll be a YEAR OLD in a little over a month!

There is a lot more going on with the house. Promise, more to come!

Just In Time

We are finally about to get one of our biggest projects started and hopefully over with! THE BACK PORCH!!! Just in time for this cool weather, we'll be able to sit out and enjoy in a few weeks! Ryan demoed the addition in about 2 hours last weekend while Truett and I watched ... Truett enjoying his new swing from Pops!
It's amazing how something such as a room can come down so easily. BUT when it looks like junk, it kind of makes sense! After getting down to the frame, boy are we glad we're doing this even more! Talk about gross! The wood ants have had a hay day out there!

sweet boy loving his swing

don't you love the barn in the back yard ... lovely

thank you, Lord for a happy little man!

NOT a passy man but loves chewing on the thing and it's just too cute

EXHAUSTION ANYONE ... YES, WE MOVED!!!!

Ok ... so, can you tell we are all moved in and living amongst the mess? HA! I made myself sit down and do a short post just to show that we're still alive. The house is great!! I promise I'll post pictures when I have something decorated. It's beginning to look like the hall bathroom may be the winner. After we hang the mirror tonight and clean it up, it will be the most decorated room so far. Of course, Truett's room is pretty much done minus pictures on the wall.
All that to say, I'm pooped as is Ryan but we're still working hard to make this house a home! We're officially all moved out of 970 White Circle and you can find us now at 716 Windsor Road.

all moved in ... a mess!

Getting it DONE!!!

Well, we hope anyway ... we spent about an hour and a half yesterday in Lowes in Batesville. Everyone there is soooo nice! By the time we left, I felt like we knew everyone working there and I'm sure they were glad to see us leave after taking all of our money of course! Tru was a trooper as you can see.
Now we've got an idea of what the kitchen will look like with the countertops sitting on top uncut. And as you can see from the latest picture of the kitchen (taken with my phone today), Truett is already enjoying his spot on the counter in his Bumbo!(I know! You're not supposed to!) :) The kitchen floors are mopped and ready for tile Monday morning! WOOHOO!!! House, here we come!

Paint Works Wonders

Ok, Ok, Ok!!! I've felt the slaps on the hands for keeping you all on the edge of your couches, chairs, wherever ... here are the pics of where we are now! I purposefully waited to post until we got to this point because everything else we had done didn't look like much.
Of course, in the joys of motherhood, the past two weeks have been some of the hardest for me with Tru. He's growing up! Which means that he's starting cereal which means that my regular routine of feeding has been thrown way off! So, now that we're getting used to that, he's started teething and can't remember what a nap is (unless he's at the Carson's house and takes a 4 HOUR nap!!).
I got to help a lot with the painting thanks to Laura Beth, our sweet neighbor, and my mom. Mom and dad came on Friday and stayed to help Saturday (Happy 4th of July!) and while mom stayed with Truett all day, Ryan, dad and I painted and stuff! So refreshing! Might I mention that my husband did a fabulous job painting the kitchen cabinets with his handy dandy sprayer! Here we are ... our first 4th with Tru in his 'Chicks Dig Me' patriotic onesie (thanks, Aunt Mel) and we're leaving him with Mimi!
Ok enough about all the details... here are the pics.
The floors go in next week and we're hoping to be in by the end of the month! WOOHOO!!

Master Bedroom and small bath

Kitchen ... amazing transformation

So while all of you are on the boat, at the pool, partying it up ... the Berrys and my mom and dad are going to be painting the house!! I hope to have lots to show after the weekend! Everyone have a Happy 4th!!!

A Lot Going On

I promise more updates are coming. We have done a little work inside but nothing worthy of photos. Ryan's roof project is ALMOST done, though! He's done such a great job redoing the whole back addition. It just took a little longer than he would have preferred. The guy should be shingling it as we speak! YEA!
So, now it's time for the major changes inside. We've already KILZed the paneling and are just about ready for some paint. It already looks brighter with the dark walls gone. Truett is officially banned from the house because of all the fumes and chemicals floating in the air. So, we'll be swapping up work time as well as sending him away for a few hours at a time to get some good work done! So, I promise after the weekend there will (hopefully) be much to show. We're so excited about this new place.

IT"S OFFICIAL!!!

Yes, we've signed on the dotted line! We are now (finally) proud owners of a 1970s ranch style foreclosed house in Grenada, MS in the same neighborhood where we currently live. We closed today and will begin the inside demolition tomorrow so we can get ourselves in this new project HOME by the end of the month (Lord willing we don't run into any major problems). We are absolutely thrilled with this house. Ryan has had his eye on it for at least a year and has done amazing research to get us ready for this.
After being closed up for over a year, it needs A LOT of work but has sooo much potential! Don't worry, we're not doing EVERYTHING ourselves but will definitely be getting our hands dirty with painting, pulling up floors and replacing part of the roof.
So, follow us, stalk us, whatever you want to call it! You'll see the progress here!
